Description:
High Performance Computing (HPC) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are transforming the way research is conducted, enabling breakthroughs in science and engineering as never before. This lecture will cover:
• The HPE HPC/AI portfolio and its role in accelerating research
• Direct Liquid Cooling for energy efficiency and high-density compute
• Modern architectures: compute, parallel storage, low-latency networks
• Multitenancy and resource segregation with Morpheus, Apache Ray, and fair-share scheduling
• Runtime convergence: Kubernetes vs Slurm/PBS/Torque for hybrid HPC+AI workloads

Duration: ~60 minutes (50 min lecture + 10 min Q&A)
Language: English
Format: In-person lecture at Sapienza University, Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering

Learning Objectives:

• Understand the architectural principles behind HPC and AI integration
• Explore practical approaches to multitenancy and workload orchestration
