The Faculty Ombudsman is a lecturer appointed by the Dean, upon recommendation by student representatives and consultation with the Faculty Council, for a term of three years. He or she is an independent authority. Prof. Giuseppe PIRAS has been appointed as Ombudsman for the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering.
What they do
The Ombudsman has the authority and responsibility to intervene, including on the basis of justified requests submitted by students, to report malfunctions and limitations of their rights, as established by the University Statute (Art. 6). He monitors the application of the “Charter of Rights and Duties of Students at La Sapienza University”. He collects requests, observations, proposals and complaints from students; he has the right to carry out investigations and reports to the Dean, who, in relation to the specific case, takes the appropriate action.
How
Anyone wishing to contact the Ombudsman can send an email directly to Prof. Piras. They may request anonymity, and are entitled to do so: their name, like any other element that could identify them, is excluded from the right of access to administrative documents.
